Brand identity / custom typography
Cup O' Jazz Branding
A jazz-inspired coffee shop identity built around custom typography, packaging, and posters.
Project overview
Turning jazz into a visual identity.
For a Typography 3 assignment at San Diego State University, I developed a coffee shop brand using jazz and Times New Roman as starting points.
Typography system
Creating movement from letterforms.
Sliced, oversized letterforms suggest jazz rhythms and improvisation. Bright colors carry that energy across packaging and promotional pieces.
Brand application
Bringing the identity to the cup.
The cup brings the custom type, pattern, and logo together on the brand's central product.
Promotional design
Jazz poster applications.
Custom typography connects the musician posters to the coffee shop identity.
Vocalist poster Custom letterforms frame the performer.
Instrumental poster The type system adapts to a second musician.
Final presentation
A branded cafe moment.
Styled photography presents the cup and collateral in a cafe setting.
